Oyo has revived its self-operated hotels, now labelled 'Managed by Oyo,' seeking partnerships with real estate developers for 200 premium hotels across Indian metros. After closing its self-operated model in 2020, Oyo is re-entering the space, emphasizing a revenue-sharing basis for long-term management contracts. During the pilot phase, 30 realtors partnered, initiating operations in over 35 hotels across key cities. The program targets high-traffic metros and major tourist destinations, focusing on premium offerings like Townhouse. Oyo aims to create a mutually beneficial scenario for landlords, operators, and travellers, and hints at a potential increase beyond the initial 200 hotels.

The hospitality tech platform disclosed its intent to seek partnerships with real estate developers, aiming to identify suitable properties for these hotels through its app and website. Under the ambit of this initiative, Oyo plans to secure annual to long-term management contracts on a revenue-sharing basis for 200 premium hotels across various Indian metros. This move is accompanied by an invitation to its top hotel operators to contribute their expertise in maintaining operational excellence and ensuring high customer satisfaction. The revival follows the closure of Oyo's self-operated hotel model in 2020 which was strategically timed just before the onset of the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pilot phase of the program, Oyo has already collaborated with 30 real estate developers across 35 hotels. These establishments are strategically spread across key cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Goa, Jaipur, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Pondicherry, and Vadodara. To distinguish these establishments, they will be distinctly tagged as 'Managed by Oyo' on the company's app and website, indicating Oyo's active involvement in their operations and vouching for superior quality. The program is strategically focused on high-traffic metros and major tourist destinations, prioritizing cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Goa, and Chennai, among others. Oyo intends to onboard most of these hotels under its premium offerings, including Townhouse, Townhouse Oak, and Collection O. Oyo's relaunch of self-operated hotels aligns with its broader strategy to create a mutually beneficial scenario for landlords, professional hotel operators, and travellers. The program is designed to allow top hotel partners to earn additional revenue without the inherent risks of leasing or the overhead costs associated with starting a new hotel. These operators will benefit from dedicated relationship managers and gain access to Oyo's extensive network, comprising over 15,000 corporate accounts and more than 10,000 travel agents. This strategic move is not only a revival but also a forward-looking step for Oyo as it adapts to changing market dynamics and aims to reinforce its presence in the hospitality sector.
