In a crackdown on unauthorized commercial activities within residential premises, the District Town Planner Enforcement (DTPE) took decisive action last week by sealing 21 floors across two apartment buildings in Gurugram. The move came in response to alleged violations of occupation certificate norms, as officials uncovered a blatant disregard for the designated use of these residential spaces. Malibu Town Club also found itself under the DTPE's enforcement scrutiny, facing closure subsequent to complaints about illicit construction within its premises. Authorities acted swiftly, sealing the club in line with their commitment to curbing unauthorized developments in the region. Despite obtaining occupation certificates (OC), numerous individuals reportedly engaged in unauthorized construction within the buildings. The department has issued show cause notices and restoration orders, addressing the violation of norms post-OC acquisition. This practice has become alarmingly common, prompting the authorities to intensify their efforts to maintain the sanctity of licensed colonies. Under the direction of DTP (enforcement) Manish Yadav, a recent inspection revealed rampant illegal construction across more than half a dozen licensed colonies. Yadav emphasized that after the issuance of OCs, the department promptly initiated sealing actions on 21 floors across two buildings in Sushant Lok-1 and Malibu Towne, citing illegal construction as the primary reason for the stringent measures. A senior officer from the Town and Country Planning department shed light on the specifics of the enforcement action. In the C-Block of Sushant Lok 1 complex, four floors in each of two buildings were sealed, along with a total of 12 floors across four other buildings. Additionally, the basement of a building in Malibu Towne and offices allegedly operating illegally from two houses were also sealed, further underscoring the severity of the violations. This decisive crackdown aims to send a strong message against unauthorized construction and commercial activities within residential spaces, emphasizing the importance of adhering to occupation certificate norms for the overall well-being and planned development of Gurugram.
