The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has made the decision to take enforcement action against dangerous structures under its purview. Thirty-two residential structures have been listed by municipal officials as being unfit for habitation. Majority of these structures are in Vasco town, with the remainder spread among the Baina, Mundvel, Maimollem, Vaddem, and Headland-Sada regions.

The building were deemed hazardous after a technical analysis and residents were notified of the same. However, most of the residents have chosen to remain in the buildings because there don’t have alternate accommodation. Inhabitants of thirty of the thirty-two buildings identified are yet to vacate. To prevent risk to the lives of the tenants, municipal officials have chosen to strictly enforce the order.

The Agai Mansion Building, which is next to the Hotel Urvashi in Vasco, was recently given permission to be demolished by the local authorities since it was deemed hazardous. There have been multiple instances of concrete pieces separating from the building and endangering nearby residents. After similar instances were reported, Vasco's Pushpanjali Building, which was next to Pushpagandha Sahakar Bhandar, was also demolished.
