Hotel rates in Paris during the 2024 Olympics are already surging, with prices exceeding three-and-a-half times the typical summer rates by more than $1, less than a year before the games. Travelers going to the French capital should anticipate paying approximately $685 per night for a three-star hotel, in contrast to the usual $178 for a typical July stay, as reported by Google’s data. Meanwhile, prices for four-star hotels have risen to approximately $953 during the Olympics, up from the usual $266.

The city is anticipating over 11 million visitors during the Olympics, including 2.3 million from outside the greater Paris area and international travellers who will need accommodations. To accommodate these arrivals, there are approximately 280,000 available rooms per day across the greater Paris region, according to a spokesperson from the Paris tourism office.

Luxury five-star hotels are experiencing comparatively smaller price increases, with rates reaching approximately $1,607 per night, in contrast to their typically more affordable neighbours, which are charging around $625 for a standard July stay. This means that for the same price as a 20-square-meter (215-square-foot) room at the upscale Demeure Montaigne on the fashionable Avenue Montaigne – where you can enjoy a view of the illuminated Eiffel Tower from your bed – you will now only receive a 16-square-meter room at the more modest Hotel Mogador near Galleries Lafayette. This smaller room may have charming exposed wooden beams but lacks many amenities.

During the Olympics, budget-friendly accommodation choices are frequently charging rates in the range of $500 to $600, a price point usually associated with luxury hotels. This insight comes from a spokesperson at Expedia Group, specifically referring to the listings available on their platform.
