In a significant move towards social welfare, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced the imminent introduction of the Mukhya Mantri Awas Yojana (MMAY), a comprehensive housing initiative designed to cater to economically disadvantaged families across the state. The announcement was made during a virtual 'Vishesh Charcha' (special discussion) program with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), which was conducted from Radaur town in the Yamunanagar district.

Under the ambit of MMAY, the Chief Minister revealed that approximately one lakh families across Haryana will be beneficiaries of this scheme. A thorough survey will be executed to identify and allocate either plots or flats to those families in the state that currently do not own houses.

The Chief Minister also provided a significant update for families awaiting the third installment of INR 50,000 under the PM Awas Yojana (Urban). He assured that the pending funds, which will benefit approximately 15,000 families across the state, will be disbursed by August 31.

Emphasizing the role of PMAY as a ground breaking initiative, Khattar highlighted its goal to meet the housing aspirations of underprivileged families in both urban and rural areas of Haryana. Presently, under PMAY-Urban, the state targets to construct a total of 67,649 houses. Of this target, 14,939 houses have already been constructed, with another 15,356 under construction. In the rural sector, approvals were sanctioned for building 29,440 houses under PMAY-Rural, of which 26,318 have been completed to date.

In conclusion, the Mukhya Mantri Awas Yojana, as unveiled by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, marks a significant stride in Haryana's journey towards ensuring affordable and secure housing for its economically disadvantaged citizens. This initiative, dovetailing with the broader Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, is aimed at transforming the housing landscape in the state and taking a definitive step towards the welfare and upliftment of its residents.
