The Red Sea Global developer is working on a massive tourism project in Saudi Arabia, which was the vision of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman six years ago. The project, named Amaala and Red Sea, aims to create a mega tourism destination that will be fully open to welcome tourists by 2030.
The destination will feature a range of luxury experiences, hotels, villas, spas, and restaurants. The International Airport, a crucial component of the project, is scheduled to open in 2023. By the time the project is completed, it will cover 22 islands and six inland sites, making it the size of Belgium.
Currently, the Red Sea Tourism Destination is under construction, with the first three hotels and the international airport set to open in 2023. The project is progressing rapidly, with a mountain resort called Desert Rock already taking shape. The resort includes a 295-meter tunnel and 10 rooms being excavated into a rock face. The development of wadi villas, guest hubs, and other structures is also in an advanced stage.
The project is focused on sustainability, with efforts to create beach formations, beautification works, and new mangrove habitats. The installation of overwater steel villas and photovoltaic panels to power the project are among the highlights of the construction process.
Red Sea Tourism Destination is set to become a significant employer, with over 25,000 personnel working at the site. Once complete, it will feature 50 resorts, 8,000 hotel rooms, and more than 1,000 residential properties, offering a plethora of luxury experiences for tourists.
The project is expected to transform the Red Sea region into a world-class tourism destination, attracting travellers from all over the globe. With the airport and initial hotels set to open soon, the vision of creating this remarkable tourism hub is well on its way to becoming a reality by 2030.
