In a significant development for the people of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy recently inaugurated the foundation-laying ceremony for the construction of over 50,000 houses in Guntur district. The ambitious housing project, with a budget of Rs 1,830 crore, is part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) - YSR BLC (U) scheme and aims to provide affordable housing to those in need.

The houses will be built in the Krishnayapalem layout, covering a vast area of 1,400 acres, located in the Assembly constituencies of Mangalagiri and Tadikonda within the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA). This undertaking includes the creation of 25 layouts that will incorporate various amenities, such as anganwadi centers, schools, shopping facilities, and parking areas, to improve the quality of life for the residents.

Chief Minister Reddy emphasized the inclusive nature of the project, stating that it is aimed at creating a "social Amaravati" that caters to the needs of all citizens. By providing affordable housing options and essential facilities, the government seeks to uplift the marginalized sections of society and enhance their living standards. The beneficiaries of the scheme will be presented with documents for their houses at 25 counters, streamlining the distribution process. Additionally, to ensure transparency and accountability, each beneficiary will be photographed in their allocated plot, which will be geotagged for precise identification.

By investing in affordable housing and essential amenities, the government aims to uplift the living standards of the beneficiaries. While some may raise concerns about the financial aspects and the role of private developers, it is essential to appreciate the positive impact of such initiatives on the overall social and economic development of the region. Through this project, the government demonstrates its commitment to creating a more equitable society and a better future for its citizens.
