CIDCO's 'My Preferred CIDCO Home' housing scheme has seen high interest, with nearly 70,000 applications submitted for 26,000 homes in Navi Mumbai. Open until mid-November, the scheme offers affordable housing for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low-Income Group (LIG), with an INR 2.5 lakh subsidy available for eligible EWS applicants. The initial phase of CIDCO's broader plan to construct 67,000 homes, this project enables applicants to prioritise their preferred locations across key nodes and includes a structured three-phase process for registration, booking, and allocation.
CIDCO's large-scale housing initiative, 'My Preferred CIDCO Home,' has received an overwhelming response, with approximately 70,000 applications submitted for 26,000 homes situated near public transport links. The scheme will remain open until the middle of this month. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde launched the housing scheme in Vashi last month, aimed at the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low-Income Group (LIG). Eligible EWS applicants may benefit from a subsidy of INR 2.5 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Launched on Dussehra, the scheme attracted 12,400 online applications within the first 24 hours, and interest has continued to grow, even though CIDCO has yet to announce flat prices.
CIDCO's broader housing project will deliver 67,000 homes across Navi Mumbai's various nodes, with this initial 26,000 homes marking the first phase. Around half of these homes are located in Taloja, with others situated in nodes such as Kharghar, Khandeshwar Railway Station area, Mansarovar, Panvel, and Ulwe.
The scheme name, 'My Preferred CIDCO Home,' reflects applicants' ability to prioritise their preferred tenement locations across these areas. CIDCO's transit-oriented development approach ensures that all homes are near railway stations, bus stops, or metro stations within each node, making essential transport and services easily accessible.
According to CIDCO, these residential complexes, constructed using advanced building techniques, come with complete infrastructure and social amenities. The scheme is divided into three phases: initial registration and document submission, booking fee payment with tenement preference selection, and finally, a lottery process for allotment.
In conclusion, CIDCO's initiative is a promising step towards affordable, well-located housing for Mumbai's lower-income residents. The strong demand reflects the appeal of transit-accessible housing with comprehensive amenities, indicating CIDCO's strategic focus aligns with residents' needs for connectivity and community infrastructure.
