The INR 1,110.6 crore project, funded through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, will integrate road and rail transport to boost supply chain efficiency and reduce costs. Addressing land acquisition challenges, the state approved INR 30.5 crore for double compensation to local landowners. Slated to begin by end-2024, the MMLP is poised to attract investments, create jobs, and strengthen Madhya Pradesh's position as a logistics hub.
Indore is set to witness a significant boost in its logistics capabilities with the upcoming Multi-Modal Logistic Park (MMLP) in Pithampur. The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has successfully acquired the necessary land, totaling 112.6 hectares, for this ambitious project. Development work is expected to begin by the end of 2024, marking a crucial step in enhancing the region's infrastructure.
The MMLP will be developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, utilising both private and government land. The project includes 90 hectares from local villages and 22 hectares of government land. The land acquisition process faced delays due to compensation disputes, particularly in Jamodi village, where the collector's guideline rates were lower than in surrounding areas. However, recent developments have resolved these issues, allowing MPIDC to obtain the remaining 63 hectares needed for the project.
Rajesh Rathod, executive director of MPIDC in Indore, emphasised the importance of the MMLP for local industries. The estimated cost of the project is approximately INR 1,110.6 crore, reflecting its scale and potential impact on the local economy.
To facilitate the land acquisition, the state government approved a special package of INR 30.5 crore, ensuring double compensation for the 85 landholders in Jamodi village. This initiative aims to address the concerns of landowners and streamline the development process. MPIDC will cover 50 percent of the compensation costs, demonstrating the government's commitment to supporting local communities during this transition.
The establishment of the MMLP involves collaboration among several key players, including the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), and MPIDC. This partnership aims to create a state-of-the-art logistics hub that integrates road and rail transport, enhancing the efficiency of goods movement in the region.
The MMLP is expected to play a vital role in improving supply chain logistics, reducing transportation costs, and attracting new investments to Madhya Pradesh. As the state continues to develop its infrastructure, projects like the MMLP will be crucial for fostering economic growth and creating job opportunities for local residents.
In conclusion, the Multi-Modal Logistic Park in Pithampur represents a significant investment in Madhya Pradesh's future. With the groundwork now laid for development, the project promises to transform the logistics landscape in the region and support the growth of various industries. As work begins, stakeholders and the local community eagerly anticipate the benefits this facility will bring to Indore and beyond.
