The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has received final approval to launch its Sector 53 Housing Scheme. The scheme will now offer a total of 372 flats, including 32 additional units in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category. The online application process will be simplified, and applicants will not be required to submit documents initially. The cost of the flats will be recovered in five instalments with an interest rate of 12% per annum. Additionally, the CHB plans to introduce a standardized design for lifts in multi-storied units to streamline the construction process.
The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has received the final approval from its board of directors to proceed with the launch of its highly anticipated housing scheme in Sector 53. The scheme, known as the Self-Financing Housing Scheme-2023, has undergone some modifications, resulting in an increase in the total number of flats from 340 to 372. This increase includes an additional 32 units in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category, bringing the total number of EWS flats to 80.
The approval for the scheme's brochure, which outlines all the necessary details for potential applicants, was granted during a board of directors meeting chaired by UT Adviser Dharam Pal. With the minor changes incorporated into the brochure, the CHB is now preparing to launch the scheme at the earliest possible time, pending the finalization of the opening and closing dates by the CHB chairman.
Officials from CHB told the press that the online application process for the scheme will be made user-friendly and straightforward. To further assist applicants, a dedicated helpdesk will be established at the CHB to provide guidance and support throughout the online application process. Notably, applicants will not be required to submit any documents along with their initial application. Instead, the necessary eligibility documents will only be requested from those who are successful in the draw.
Regarding the financial aspect of the scheme, the tentative cost of the flats will be recovered through five equal instalments over a period of six months each. Additionally, an interest rate of 12% per annum will be applied from the date of issuance of the acceptance-cum-demand letter (ACDL). This payment plan aims to provide flexibility and affordability for the allottees.
In an effort to streamline the construction process and facilitate the approval procedure, Pal announced that the CHB, in collaboration with the architect wing of the administration, will develop a standardized design for the lifts in the multi-storied dwelling units constructed by the CHB. This initiative aims to save the allottees from the burdensome task of obtaining various approvals for lift installations while also allowing them to take advantage of the recently permitted need-based changes.
