The primary goal of these verification camps is to ensure 100% police verification of tenants, laborers, and house help. Each week, new locations are targeted to further strengthen public-police collaboration. As of September 28, 2024, the police have verified 27,700 helpers as part of this ongoing effort.
During the verification process, the authorities assess whether landlords have conducted proper police checks and confirm that rented properties are not being misused for illegal activities or as hideouts for antisocial elements. This rigorous approach is part of "Operation Raakhan," launched by the Goa police to bolster security in the region.
To enhance safety, police patrols have been implemented from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., responding to concerns about recent home invasions. These nighttime patrols have proven effective, particularly in Mapusa, where they have contributed to solving cases and apprehending suspects. The police aim to foster greater public trust and enhance safety through these proactive measures.
