The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) plans to expand its jurisdiction by an additional 1,000 sq. km, incorporating 272 villages from Jaipur Rural and Dudu districts as part of the Master Plan 2047. This proposal, set for discussion in an upcoming meeting chaired by JDA commissioner Anandhi, aims to increase the JDA's coverage from 5,000 sq. km to 6,000 sq. km. Notably, this expansion will extend the JDA's authority beyond the urban zones managed by Jaipur's municipal corporations to include areas under Shahpura, Chaksu, and Jobner municipalities. The initiative focuses on systematic development to improve infrastructure and living standards, reflecting the JDA's commitment to sustainable growth and urban modernisation.
The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is preparing for a substantial expansion of its jurisdiction by an additional 1,000 sq. km in the coming years. This ambitious initiative will incorporate 272 villages from the Jaipur Rural and Dudu districts, alongside the establishment of two new municipalities in Jaipur Rural. The proposal, part of the Master Plan 2047, is anticipated to receive approval in an upcoming JDA meeting.
Last week, reports indicated that a meeting chaired by JDA commissioner Anandhi is scheduled for later this month, where the proposed area extensions under the JDA's jurisdiction will be finalised, according to a JDA official.
The current JDA Master Plan, which has been in effect since 2000 for a 25-year period, encompasses an area of 5,000 sq. km. The new plan aims to expand this coverage to 6,000 sq. km, integrating 272 villages-229 from the ten tehsils of Jaipur Rural and 40 from the three tehsils of Dudu district, as well as other areas within Jaipur district. This extension marks a significant shift, as the JDA's jurisdiction will now extend beyond Jaipur Rural, granting it authority over parts of the newly established Dudu district, including 40 villages from Dudu and Phagi tehsils.
For the first time, the JDA's reach will extend beyond the urban zones managed by Jaipur's two municipal corporations-Jaipur Municipal Corporation Greater and Heritage-to include areas under the municipalities of Shahpura, Chaksu, and Jobner in Jaipur Rural.
With these areas falling under the JDA's jurisdiction, the authority will be positioned to initiate systematic and phased development in these villages and colonies over the next 25 years. This strategic development plan aims to enhance infrastructure, improve living standards, and cater to the growing needs of the population in these newly incorporated regions, as highlighted by a JDA official. The initiative reflects the JDA's commitment to fostering sustainable growth and modernising urban development in the region.
In conclusion, the JDA's expansion will significantly enhance urban planning and development, catering to the evolving needs of Jaipur's residents.
