The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) demolished a building with 30 apartments illegally constructed in Sukhrali Enclave, falling within the restricted zone near an Indian Air Force ammunition depot. The MCG commissioner suspended a junior engineer for negligence and ordered a chargesheet against him. The building was initially partially razed, but upon noticing this, the commissioner instructed its complete demolition. Authorities plan to file an FIR against the building owner, warning the public against buying illegal properties lacking basic amenities and property registries. MCG officials will continue demolishing such buildings in the area.
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) recently took decisive action to demolish a building consisting of 30
apartments that was being illegally constructed in Sukhrali Enclave. This particular area is located within the restricted
zone surrounding the Indian Air Force ammunition depot, where any form of construction is strictly prohibited.
The MCG commissioner, in addition to ordering the demolition, took disciplinary action against a junior engineer who
had failed to act promptly against the illegal construction. The commissioner suspended the engineer and initiated the
process of filing a chargesheet against him for his negligence in addressing the matter in a timely manner.
Initially, the enforcement team had attempted to demolish the illegal building on May 11, but they were only able to
partially raze the section where the small flats were being constructed. Recognizing that the building had not been
entirely demolished, MCG chief PC Meena intervened and directed the complete demolition of the structure.
Furthermore, due to the junior engineer's negligence, the commissioner decided to suspend him from duty.
The building, spanning an area of 500 square yards, was intended to accommodate one-room and two-room residential
units. Following the commissioner's instructions, a team led by joint commissioner Vijay Yadav demolished the three-
storey building on Saturday. It is important to note that any construction within this area is prohibited due to its
designation as a restricted zone surrounding the ammunition depot. The MCG commissioner has emphasized the
importance of taking prompt action against any instances of illegal construction throughout the city.
Authorities have also announced their intention to file a First Information Report (FIR) against the owner of the
building for engaging in unauthorized construction within the area. They have advised the public to exercise caution
when considering the purchase of flats in these colonies, as the sale and purchase of properties in such areas are
illegal. Additionally, these colonies lack basic amenities such as electricity, water, and sewerage connections.
Moreover, property registries are not carried out since these properties are deemed illegal.
A senior MCG official emphasized the importance of refraining from purchasing houses or shops that have been
illegally constructed in these colonies. The enforcement teams have been instructed to demolish any other similar
buildings discovered within the area.
In summary, the MCG took firm action against an illegally constructed building in Sukhrali Enclave, which falls
within the restricted zone surrounding an Indian Air Force ammunition depot. The commissioner not only ordered the
demolition of the building but also suspended a junior engineer for negligence. Authorities have highlighted the
illegality of buying properties in these colonies due to the lack of basic amenities and the absence of property
registries. They have also warned of future demolitions in the area.
