Dr. P.P. Vava, a member of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis, visited the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) headquarters to commend their cleanliness initiatives and welfare efforts for sanitation workers, referred to as "Swachhata Mitra" and "Safai Mitra." He praised NMMC's work and offered suggestions for future improvements. During his visit, he inspected vehicles and equipment used for cleanliness and interacted with workers. The event also honored social advisor Girender Nath and coordinator Sandeep Charan, with NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde presenting NMMC's efforts to ensure the dignity, safety, and health of sanitation workers.
Dr. P.P. Vava, a member of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis, Government of India, visited the headquarters of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) today. During the visit, he praised the ongoing cleanliness initiatives of the corporation, as well as the efforts being made for the welfare of "Swachhata Mitra" and "Safai Mitra" (sanitation workers). Expressing confidence that even better work will be done in the future, he also provided some valuable suggestions.
On this occasion, social advisor Mr. Girender Nath and coordinator Sandeep Charan were honored. The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioners Mr. Sunil Pawar and Mr. Shirish Aradwad, along with other department heads and officers.
On behalf of NMMC, Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde welcomed Dr. P.P. Vava, member of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis. During the visit, the Commissioner gave a presentation on the cleanliness initiatives and the various amenities provided for sanitation workers. Dr. Vava took note of the fact that NMMC refers to sanitation workers as "Swachhata Mitra" and "Safai Mitra," which enhances their social dignity.
During the visit, Dr. P.P. Vava also inspected various vehicles and equipment used in NMMC's cleanliness efforts and interacted directly with the Safai Mitra. Dr. P.P. Vava expressed satisfaction with the progress of NMMC's work compared to other cities, particularly in ensuring the safety and health of sanitation workers.
