To prevent the spread of malaria, dengue, as well as waterborne and epidemic diseases within Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's jurisdiction, the NMMC Health Department has been organizing special awareness camps. These camps have received an excellent response from citizens, effectively raising awareness about malaria, dengue, waterborne diseases, and general health issues.

Through these camps, the aim is to reach as many citizens as possible within the jurisdiction of the 24 Urban Primary Health Centres. The camps focus on educating the public about preventive measures and necessary steps to take if they fall ill.

On August 28th, similar special camps were held at various locations under the 24 Urban Primary Health Centres. During these camps, awareness was raised among 13,256 citizens, and 1,216 blood samples were collected. So far, five such special camps have been organized at various locations within the jurisdiction of these 24 Urban Primary Health Centers, benefiting a total of 40,825 citizens.

A unique aspect of these camps is the demonstration of breeding sites for Anopheles and Aedes mosquitoes. Citizens were shown mosquito larvae, and they were educated on how to prevent mosquito breeding around their homes. For example, they were encouraged to cover water storage drums with cloths like scarves, dhotis, or saris, ensure water storage containers and tanks are sealed, clean and dry them once a week, and dispose of scrap materials and tires. Additionally, they were advised not to let water accumulate on plastic sheets or tarpaulins on rooftops. Citizens were also encouraged to consult a doctor immediately upon noticing symptoms of fever.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, through its Health Department, is taking the necessary steps to control malaria and dengue. Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has appealed to the citizens of Navi Mumbai to cooperate fully by eliminating mosquito breeding sites in and around their homes, maintaining cleanliness, boiling water before drinking, washing vegetables thoroughly, and avoiding eating exposed food. By taking these precautions, it will be possible to reduce the number of malaria/dengue cases and control waterborne and epidemic diseases in Navi Mumbai.
