Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) has introduced a modern QR code payment system, allowing residents to pay their house tax from home while earning extra savings. Homeowners can now enjoy a 12.5% total discount on house tax, with an additional 2.5% rebate for using the QR code option. This initiative aims to simplify tax payments, promote cashless transactions, and improve compliance among over 1.2 lakh property owners across the city. The system promises a hassle-free way to keep up with taxes while benefiting from extra savings.
In a move to modernise its civic services, the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) has rolled out a QR code system to streamline house tax, water, and sewer tax payments. This new initiative allows residents to pay their taxes directly from their homes by simply scanning a QR code, eliminating the need for in-person visits to municipal offices. The system is part of PMC's effort to promote cashless transactions and make tax payments more accessible and convenient.
One of the main attractions of this new system is the financial benefit it offers to taxpayers. Currently, property owners receive a 10% discount for timely payments. With the introduction of the QR code system, those who use this payment method will receive an additional 2.5% rebate, bringing the total discount to 12.5%. This added incentive is expected to encourage more residents to adopt the digital payment method and ensure timely tax deposits.
The Chief Tax Assessment Officer of PMC, PK Dwivedi, explained that the primary objective of the initiative is to make the tax payment process as hassle-free as possible for residents, while encouraging regular and timely payments. The initiative will benefit approximately 1.2 lakh property owners in 80 wards across Prayagraj, with plans to extend it to newly developed areas that cover over 1.72 lakh additional properties. As part of this initiative, a plan has been developed to collect property taxes from around 54,000 buildings.
Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani stated that the proposal for the additional rebate is awaiting approval in an upcoming Municipal Corporation meeting. Once approved, the system will significantly reduce the need for long queues, paperwork, and physical visits, pushing Prayagraj towards a more efficient, digital future in tax collection. This move not only simplifies the payment process but also rewards residents for embracing modern, cashless solutions.

By streamlining tax payments and offering additional rebates, this initiative simplifies the process for residents while encouraging timely payments. As Prayagraj moves towards a more efficient, digital future in tax collection, the scheme highlights the benefits of adopting innovative solutions in public administration.
