Synopsis

A delegation led by British Deputy High Commissioner G. Van Owen visited Amaravati to review the progress of the Andhra Pradesh capital city project and explore potential investment opportunities. During the visit, officials from the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) briefed the delegation on the city’s infrastructure plans, sustainability initiatives and ongoing construction activities. The team also toured key project sites including the government complex towers and riverfront development areas. Discussions further focused on investment potential across education, healthcare, tourism and urban infrastructure sectors, with officials highlighting that several institutions have already begun operations in Amaravati.

British Deputy High Commissioner G. Van Owen and Department of Business & Trade Partnerships Director Chaz Walia visited Amaravati to review the progress of the capital city project and discuss future investment opportunities.

The delegation first met senior officials at the Amaravati Secretariat, including Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar, Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) Commissioner V. Vijaya Ramaraju and Additional Commissioner Kollabathula Karthik.

During the meeting, APCRDA officials explained the ongoing efforts to develop Amaravati as a sustainable and modern capital city with integrated infrastructure and improved living standards. Officials said the city is being planned with a focus on environmentally conscious development, public infrastructure and long-term urban growth. Amaravati has been positioned by the Andhra Pradesh government as a key administrative and economic hub since the capital city project was revived and construction activity restarted over the past few years.

The British delegation later visited several ongoing infrastructure projects, including the iconic towers being developed as part of the Amaravati Government Complex, the gravity canal network and campsite offices. Officials briefed the visitors on the construction progress, engineering methods being adopted and the environmental measures being implemented across various projects.

The delegation also held discussions with Amaravati Growth & Infrastructure Corporation Limited Managing Director SVR Srinivas at the APCRDA office in Rayapudi. During the interaction, the officials presented investment opportunities being planned across sectors such as education, healthcare, tourism and riverfront development.

Officials further informed the delegation that several educational and medical institutions have already started operations in Amaravati, while additional projects are expected to come up as infrastructure work progresses across the capital region.
